Yes, you’ve heard about it, and yes, it does exist. It’s a self-service type affair but all you need is a little time and to know what your looking for. Or a lot of time if you don’t know quite what you’re looking for. Don’t bring tools, they’re not allowed, but you might want a flashlight. Most parts are sorted into bins, by category, with at least a minimum of organization to make it easier for you and us to find what we’re looking for. If you don’t know what you need we’ll be happy to look for you. The $1/minute shop rate applies to scrounging for parts also, not just working on bikes. Prices are determined on a per-part basis, taking into account for quality and condition.
There is the big heap of bikes down there too, and those bikes are for sale, but as-is. No removing parts from partial bikes, that’s for us to do if we see fit. You can point it out to us, and we’ll quote you a price for what’s there.
Please be considerate and don’t make a mess or combine bins. You’re welcome to dig all day long if you want, but if you leave the place messy, we’re going to be pissed off at you. It takes a fair bit of effort to keep it cleanish down there and we’d really rather you didn’t make it any harder for us. Thanks.
